18-DAY CAMPAIGN TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN (VAW)

The Philippine Embassy in Hungary fully supports the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence against Women (VAW). This advocacy campaign is observed annually, from November 25 to December 12, as mandated by Proclamation 1172 s. 2006.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, underlying gender issues which further affected marginalized and vulnerable sectors have been surfaced. It highlighted the challenge of strengthening the functionality of VAW Desks, which serves as the first line of response for survivors.

Therefore, in consonance with the campaign theme “VAW-free community starts with Me” for the period 2016 to 2021, this year’s focus is on capacitating VAW Desk Officers and other officials on how to handle VAW/GBC cases. It also reiterates everyone’s commitment and contributions on ending VAW and calls on the general public to make a personal commitment to end violence against women and children.
